Flat Transformer Construction

Element Construction:
(1)  The flat transformer consists of 2 epoxy coated square ferrite cores.
(2)  Each core has 2 built-in helix windings bonded to the inside surfaces.

2 epoxy coated square ferrite cores core has 2 built in helix windings bonded to the inside surfaces 2 cores connected to form cnter tapped flat transformer
(3)  The 2 square cores are connected together to form a center tapped flat transformer with a single turn push pull secondary winding.

Flat Transformer Modules:
Flat Transformers consist of multiple elements with matching inductors.
Schematic: flat transormer and inductor module
Schematic of the secondary circuit arrangement of a flat transformer and inductor module is shown above. In this configuration, the primary windings are installed by the customer for flexibility in changing the turns ratio, or are installed at factory prior to shipping to customer.

Flat Transformer Multiple-Module Application Example:
Modules are optimized for 300 watt to 2,000 watt switching power supplies. (600 watts require 4 modules - FTI-12x2A-4B;  2,000 watts require 14 modules - FTI-12x2A-14B)

Turns Ratio = N x P :1
N = Number of modules placed side by side with through holes aligned.

P = Number of primary windings through ALL of the modules.

Example: For a turns ratio of 8:1, 600 watts.

Use N = 4 modules, P = 2 turn primary through all modules.

Availability:
The flat Transformers are available either as modules without a primary winding (FTI series - customer installed primary winding) or as a complete fully wound transformer (CTI series). All the secondary windings for both FTI and CTI series are single turn push-pull windings (2 turns, center tapped).
