Introduction

Introduction of the Flat Transformer Technology

A breakthrough in transformer technology that can reduce transformer costs by at least 50%, eliminate the hot spots, bus bars, and reduce leakage inductance was initially patented in 1987 and has been optimized since then. These transformers have a low profiles, a high dielectric isolation, high density, a high power capacity, a high coupling between windings and offer equal current sharing. The Flat Transformer allows for flexibility in designs that is not typically available with a conventional transformer.

 Conventional Transformer:
  • Uses a single core
  • Large number of primary winding turns
  • Substantial leakage inductance
  • Poor high frequency response
  • Bulkiness in Package
Convential Transformer

 Flat Transformer:
  • Uses multiple cores
  • Small number of primary winding turns
  • Very low leakage inductance
  • Excellent high frequency characteristics
  • Low profile
